i-Ready Classroom Mathematics is a comprehensive core mathematics program that makes math accessible to all students. Everything works together to support teachers and empower students to connect to mathematics in new ways.

Overview

Special Education programs and services in the Milton Area School District provide specially designed instruction to meet the needs of the exceptional child. The nature of the need may be related to autism/persuasive development disorder, blindness or visual impairment, deafness or hearing impairment, mental giftedness, intellectual disability, multiple disabilities, neurological impairment, other health impairment, physical disability, serious emotional disturbance, specific learning disability, or speech and language impairment.

K-5 Art Curriculum

Course Overview

Art is a course which provides students the opportunity to explore various art forms and techniques through the elements and principles of art and design.  Students will be introduced to a variety of media including two-dimensional and three-dimensional approaches while creating and responding to visual arts.

PA Common Core Standards for Arts and Humanities will direct instruction.  Art Standards define what students should understand and be able to do.

K-5 Guidance Curriculum

Course Overview

Guidance is a course which provides students the opportunity to grow in their academic, career, personal, social and emotional skills through Positive Action Curriculum and Smart Futures Curriculum. Through our Positive Action Curriculum, students will explore six different themes including our PAWS, taking care of ourselves, what you want to do when you grow up, friendship, kindness, and manners.

Smart Futures – Pennsylvania is the first state in the United States to require that all students graduate with a personalized career plan and portfolio that is tied to clearly defined K-12 career education benchmarks.  These benchmarks called the Pennsylvania Academic Standards for Career Education and Work (CEW Standards) provide the curriculum road map that assures that all students are prepared for 21st century success. Smart Futures presents SmartFutures.org, a career planning and portfolio platform that helps schools easily implement the Career Education and Work (CEW) Standards within any classroom or virtually.

K-5 Library / Media Curriculum

Course Overview

The Milton Area School District Library Media Center creates a global learning environment that promotes learning for all scholars by providing access to quality resources, innovative services that stimulates creativity and intellectual curiosity, and facilitates lifelong learning and personal growth.

The library media specialist will provide opportunities for engaged learning and adapt tools and tasks to individual student learning differences. The specialist will tailor the program to meet the needs of each and every scholar in Milton Area School District’s elementary schools.

K-5 Health & PE Curriculum

Course Overview

Health – Our Too Good for Drugs health curriculum is an evidence-based program that introduces and reviews a series of skills to prepare children to make healthy choices and resist unhealthy behaviors in life, including bullying, fighting, and other aggressive behaviors.  Effective prevention education depends on the school, the family, and the community to reinforce the skills and concepts taught in the program with hopes that every student will choose a safe, healthy, and drug-free life.

Physical Education – Standards-based Elementary School Physical Education provides students with experiences in a wide variety of activities with an emphasis placed on physical activity and personal fitness.  Elementary Physical Education strives to improve motor development, cognitive development and affective development through participation in instructional activities including foundational skills, throwing and catching, jumping, kicking and trapping, dribbling and striking, games, parachute and dance.

Course Overview

Elementary General Music seeks to develop basis musicianship skills to attain a general understanding of the construction and performance of music as an art as well as an understanding of how music shapes and is shaped by the environment.

K-5 Reading Special Curriculum

Course Overview

Reading Special is a related arts class that uses Science of Reading, multisensory techniques to fill in gaps in the tier 1 curriculum. Reading Special is all about practicing our reading skills, while finding a joy for reading.  This course provides students with the opportunity to grow in reading and literacy skills. Students will be introduced to strategies to help them become better readers. They will learn to foster a love of reading through specialized time with books and literacy apps.
